At Ōtāhuhu Primary School we use Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) to teach, monitor and enforce appropriate behaviours and values in class and around school.
Our school HEART values are:
Honesty
Excellence
Attitude
Respect
Tolerance
We acknowledge these values in class using house points, around school using house tokens, and in whole school assemblies with HEART certificates.
Each student at Ōtāhuhu is a member of one of our house groups - Manukau, Tāmaki, Tāhuhu and Te Tō Waka. The origin of these are explained in the diagram below.
Students gather for house events, and compete to win the most house points. Students can also earn house points in class for showing their HEART values.
House tokens are earned out in the playground, at fitness, and at assemblies. Students can win prizes for their house group by gaining tokens.
Our houses developed House Chants in 2025, which are now being celebrated at assemblies. The winning house each assembly gets to share their house chant in front of the school.
You can learn our house chants below and by clicking on the audio link. Manukau Chant - Tāmaki Chant - Tāhuhu Chant - Te Tō Waka Chant
